Sabin Resort

Lounging in the waters. A cover study I shot at Sabin Resort in Ormoc.

The scorching heat of summer has placed its veil upon us puny humans. Lest no choice but to bow to its wavering heat and succumb us to unending sweat in the summer days. Thus our instincts dictates us to flee in comfort. Come beach and pool and wallow endlessly in its cool, calming waters. Alternately, voyage to higher altitudes where the breeze of the mountains still emanates a nurturing coolness. Yes, summer is here!

The Ronin returns after a brief respite.

As compensation of not writing for some time, let me recap in brief, highlights for the past few weeks:

Holy Week. For a change, I spent holy week in Manila. Instead of thinking I got left out of the vacationing crowd, I instead thought of it as rest from my vacation. The past few months was like a vacation for me and I guess it’s time to slow things down and see what has changed here. What did change? Holy week is not is used to be. Then, “all” establishments were closed during good friday, even the convenience stores, now some are open, the Video Stores are open to take advantage of crowd, internet Cafes are open to attend to those MMORPG gamers. Pasyon is still alive but now they have political undertones as well?! (talking about seperating the church from the state). Imagine those elderlies singing the pasyon in lyrics of protest against the upcoming VAT (Value added tax) increase. There’s TV. Cable has drastically changed holyweek as well. No regular channels, there’s always cable to turn to.

The Wedding

Jean and Robert’s Wedding. Held in Laguna, Bel Air.

The Wedding. I was able to attend a former officemate’s wedding in Laguna. Then a long drive afterwards to the reception area in Tagaytay. Many thanks to my companion’s diligent driving even after his car’s radiator was damaged. Hehehe. We were enjoying our talk he forgot to check the radiator. Still we got home safe and sound.

Antonios

Fine Dining. One of Antonio’s dining area.

Tagaytay and the Art of Fine Dining. One of the perfect place place to spend summer is in Tagaytay. If you can’t reach Baguio, go here instead. Its not as cold as Baguio but it still cold enough. Was able to explore the place a bit more. But the climax of my exploration here is the fine dining in “Antonio’s” restaurant. It is the best food I have tasted in a restaurant! It is where I have truly experienced the Art of Fine Dining, from starters, appetizers, salads, Main course and deserts. It’s just top of the line, and the amazing ambience of the place is truly worth it.

Lake Danao

Mythic Lake. Child who took a bath from the cool waters of Lake Danao .

Discovering Ormoc. I had the chance to explore Ormoc early this month. Many thanks to the Codilla family there, especially Edwin who was our host and companions there Ira, and Clarence of Clean and Green. It’s a nice clean and simple city. Home of the famous Lake Danao, The largest geothermal plant in the world, and the large field of pinapple plantation.

That’s just about it for now. April will be something different.

  • Hi Nina! Thank you for visiting. There are a lot of campsite in the island itself. Actually anywhere is good as long as the water doesn’t reach you. As for us we camped just beside the rock walls and there’s a rock shelter made there. It’s just near the drop off point of many boats.

  • weeh~ you’re back! anyway, yes, tagaytay is cool if you can’t reach baguio. if you want to try something light naman, go to mushroom burger XP

  • hey thanks for that :) i think i saw the rock shelter you mentioned.. can’t wait to go back to capones!! ciao!

  • [...] I know Valentines just around so some of you may be looking for a nice fine dining restaurant. If you would ask me Antonio’s Restaurant takes the cake for ultimate dining pleasure, but you have to book at the place in advance. But also nearby is another worthy destination which inspired Antonio’s Resto as well. It’s Sonya’s Bed and Breakfast. [...]
