Nabaoy river experience

The crystal clear river of Barangay Nabaoy, Malay, Aklan

Unbeknownst to many, Boracay is part of the municipality of Malay, which is a region of Aklan. Most of the time, tourist who came from the Caticlan airport or the Ro-ro ferries are immidiately whisked away to the famed Boracay Island. Little do they know that the province of Malay has more to offer than its white sands.

Food and Music

Sumptous food from Chicken Inasal and Music courtesy of the local Tambuli group.

Just 30 minutes drive from the airport going to Barangay Nabaoy, and a very very short hike, you’ll reach the crystal clear waters of Nabaoy, the water source of Boracay. Food prepared by The Chicken Inasal Resto of Boracay (located at D’mall) was already waiting and the amazing instrumental performance of a local Tambuli group greeted us. Mayor Cawiling and the organizers really did an amazing job setting up the place.

Running river lunch

Lunch through a running river.

It was just amazing having lunch in the middle of the river while our feet are submerged under the cool waters. Hey! I even get to wash my hands instantly after devouring all the food there. Hehehe.

Spectators by the river

Locals watching us by the river.

Many of us would have dipped in the deeper portions of the river, but it felt like being a goldfish in a fish bowl with all the local spectators looking from all directions.

ei bro! thanks for passing by. heard there are other areas in aklan worth seeing more than over-commercialized boracay like carabao island (hope i got it right) which they say is like boracay two decades ago. now that will be worth exploring!

wow, nice pics. i don’t know if you remember me, but i provided the food during the nabaoy river trip.Island Chicken Inasal. One of the reasons i agreed to bring the food was so i could see what Malay has to offer aside from the white beach. well there are more surprises , not just Nabaoy. You got really nice pics. Too bad i only had my phone camera to take the pics. Anyway, contact me if you want to see more of Malay.

I ate at Island Chicken Inasal. The ambience was ok. However, I noticed that the grilled chicken was a little undercooked. Also some of the skin got burned to the crisp which is carcernogenous. Also, there were just too many flies whenever you eat on the island. The fresh water supply in Boracay is also suspect for contamination due to the fact that their sewer and garbage disposal system is not that advanced and there are just too many people especially during the summer. The facilities at El Nido in Palawan are better and the beaches and water are cleaner.

I dont think island chicken inasal is that great. maliit ang manok for the price. the qc branch has plenty of cockroaches and higads. service is bad, the girls are always chatting woith each other and it takes a lot of effort to call them.
