Good morning Vietnam

Breakfast with the Vietnamese
Another thing I learned about the Vietnamese is that they are very lazy when in comes to breakfast. Our guide Lee Tien, told us that most of them after waking up and before going to work usually just stops by at the nearest corner food stall and eat a quick breakfast.

The popular spicy breakfast noodle Bún Bò Huế
One such meal we were able to taste was the common Bún Bò Huế. This popular noodle that originated from the Royal City of Huế has enough spice to wake you up on a sleepy morning. Its rice noodles are different from the common Pho, as it’s much thicker. The soup is rich in beef flavor and along with it is a big chunk of beef meat enough to start your protein regimen. It actually taste good, because along with the spice is a certain mint flavor that compliments it. Another constant accompaniment is their Iced Tea. Their Iced Tea is very very subtle but is enough to wash out excess flavors from your meals. And best of all its very cheap. A full bowl is only 11000 Dong (US$.7)!

Bánh Mì Thit. Everybody loves a French Baguette
The French have a very big influence to their eating habits as well. Vietnamese are fond of eating French Breads, bagels and Baguettes. They are very common along the streets in the morning. For 5000 Dong only you could buy a Baguette meal commonly called Bánh Mì Thit. A Vietnamese Sandwich containing some cold cuts, mayo, cucumber slices and some black pepper spices, again side with Iced Tea to complete your meal.

The Vietnamese breakfast club
It’s really interesting to watch the morning scene at Vietnam, people going about their ways, Kids grabbing a quick bite of baguettes as they head to school. And some elders just so engrossed with their conversations. I just wish I could understand what they’re saying though.
