Manila: Nuvo Y5k
Hanging out at the Bar
Nuvo, bar and restaurant is one of the classiest night life places in town located in Greenbelt 2, Makati. On my way there I was expecting to do more food and establishment shoots. But when I arrived there about 2 hours before midnight, I never expected to walk into one of the high society’s anticipated party event as Nuvo celebrates its 5th anniversary last July 25 2007. The party dubbed as Nuvo Y5k sought to bring an atmosphere of nostalgia as it plays some feel good and vibe music of the nineties.
Bar entrance
Honestly, it’s quite rare for me to visit this kind of places as I never considered myself as part of what you might call “high society” folks that you may commonly see at the pages Tatler Magazines. But what the heck, I’m already there so I might as well enjoy the sights and sounds, and the open bar too.
And the crowd pours in
The crowd here is just wow! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since I saw some common faces I’ve seen when I covered one of the private party opening of Wine Club Makati. The difference here is the people are more casual. And what a concentration of beautiful people wearing va-va-vavoom dressed-to-kill attires.
Purple back lit walls on the ground floor
The place is just ritzy. the bar design is just elegant with amazing display of wines and other drinks. Temperature is just right. And the purple wall lighting at the ground floor just adds a nice accent to the warm atmosphere of the place. Oh did I just say that the place is packed with people that I just have to squirm around going from one place to another.
Bar view at the upper floor
There place has an upper floor reserved for VIP guests. There’s another bar there but honestly it looks cramped for me as the ceiling seems low or it’s just too crowded. If you look down you’ll get a nice view of the bar and the numerous crowd.
Upper floor VIP lounge
People are allowed to smoke here on the upper floor and the piped in music seems louder here but not to the point of intruding your conversation. I never did got to take photos of the food here and the establishment as well. That’s a bit impossible with all these crowd. So I just settled on shooting the atmosphere of the place.
High style fashion queen Tessa Prieto with her friends
I was informed that there are some local showbiz personalities here, but I have very poor knowledge on who’s who in the showbiz arena so I had to ask them to point me to who are the important persons I should take photos of. And one that seemed to stand out among the crowd despite her petite frame in her lavish yellow princess outfit and matching crown is the high style fashion queen, Tessa Prieto.
Anyways I didn’t stay there until the party has finished since I have work the next day. I was only able to drink a glass of red wine at that time. So imagine me holding a glass of wine on my left hand later that night going around with my camera on my right hand hand shooting. Hey, I gotta enjoy some of my time there, even for a while.

looks like a swanky place. how are the prices, though? are you going to sell a kidney for a cocktail or two? so how do you like rubbing elbows with “high society”? wonderful post, again.

Tessa Prieto looks like a clown, as always. I never understood her fashion statement. Dress to kill, from LOL.

Looks like a lot of westerners frequent that place. It doesn’t look like my type of bar, but I’d probably try one drink. And I’d probably be too underdressed (or casual) for that place.

Very classy place, like the ones they have in Europe or Middle East. I wonder if prices are reasonable there…I have a feeling they aren’t.

Wow, high style is probably high prices.
I am 34, and probably been in a bar like 3 times. What a sheltered life huh?

Very chic! it look much like an EU classy bars. Trick for this kind of bar, to afford it, just order 1 or two glass of wine that will lasts til midnite. or damagan ang importante maka bla bla at maka siko siko ang isang katulad ni miss prieto lol
