TNT Magazine London recently had their TNT Winter Travel Show Gallery at Royal Horticultal Halls last September 13, 2008. Also that night they announced the winners of their 18th TNT Travel Writing and Photography Awards. Since I wasn’t there at the venue, it took me a few days before I knew of the results. Mid-last week i found out through an email that I won First Place for the Travel Photography category The World Around Us. And to add to that not I also won the People’s Choice Award which resulted from online voting and offline voting at the Soho Gallery exhibit at Carnaby, Sacred Cafe. Reading the email, I still can’t believe the news that I’ve won.
TNT Magazine London 18th Travel Writing and Photography Awards Winners – Photography: The World Around Us
The TNT Magazine Issue 1308 which is out this week September 22-28 2008 have published the winners. The Judge’s Comments, Justine Walker (TNT Picture Editor) says:
This shot captures the essence of the brief and category. It’s a powerful image caught at the right moment. Great exposure to get maximum detail in the clouds, but still detail in the main subject. Large depth of field so viewers get the full amount of information in the landscape. It’s not poised — Ferdinand has sneaked away from the tourist trap below to capture an intimate, peaceful moment above the clouds
It really feels great to have won an international photo competition and also know that my work has been a part of an exhibit on a couple of venues in London. While I personally wasn’t able to go there, knowing that my work has reached that part of the globe is reward enough. As a grand prize they just sent me an Olympus E-3 camera with 14-52 f2.8 high grade lens all worth £1499 (about 100,000 PHP+). For many months I’ve only dreamed of having this Pro camera since I personally can’t afford it. So I’m very very thankful to the judges and the man upstairs for this very big blessing. Many many thanks also for the people who voted for me for the “People’s Choice Awards”
