Alexander: The Gay Counqueror

Alexander

And I thought Troy was bad already, I couldn’t believe it could get any worse. And it has “Oliver Stone” written all over it! Ok let me go straight to the point: It’s a bad movie.

Ok Oliver Stone added character to Alexander more then the hallow character of Achilles (couldn’t help the comparison) in Troy. He did show us (or should I say, glamourized) that one of the greatest counqeror of empires was in fact GAY. I dunno if there was a historical basis on this really, but personally it shatters what I learned of him during my early school days.

Ok biased aside, Alexander is gay! Accepted. But is the movie really worth it? This is an all star cast, so I expected much from the acting here, but it really fell short for me. The old Ptolemy, Anthony Hopkins, never really grabbed me with his narration, even from the start. Angelina Jolie, as Alexander’s Mother seems to much for me. And boy, she never gets old. Val Kilmer may have somehow excelled among them here a bit. And Colin Farrel? I dunno. It’s not his best here. His numerous speeches here didn’t really awed me. His Delivery was somehow off. So stiff.

I must say the there is something to enjoy here on the battle scenes but it wasn’t the best. The journey could have been interesting but still it fell short and the over all tone of the movie was in the mid ground. For a 2 hours movie, it felt really long. Every shift of scene I always asked, “Isn’t this finished yet?”. Yeah, it was that boring for me, if I could just walk out and refund my money. Need I say more?

i’ve never seen so many homos in a “historical” flick before.

    i felt bad watching it.

  2. Stan Says:

Uhmm, maybe it should be put in a historical context, not compared with current definitions of homosexuality.

Stan: Just saw the documentart on Discovery’s Civilization regarding Alexander. I have nothing really on Alexander being gay which is a historical truth. There are other significant historical figures dun na gay din. Though there are some details sana na ipinakita sa movie that should have been showb. I guess the story telling wasn’t good enough there.

I’m using Wordpress by the way :D
