I

t's February, it wasn't supposed to be raining this month. It's the dry season for crying out loud!!! My thoughts were screaming as I headed towards the Victory Liner Bus Station in Caloocan. I was looking outside the bus window and it was raining. Funny how the weather decided to rain at the said date. I was able to check the weather yesterday and there were no storm in the vicinity at that time. I was a bit worried as we were going to an island and rough waters may prevent us if the weather in Zambales is the same as in Manila. And I was a little disappointed that 3 of our companions suddenly backed out of the said trip a few days before. I looked at my watch and I was running late, funny when I said the night before that I'll be there earlier. Turns out they were all already waiting.

Off to the Island

To the Island

Despite the uncooperative weather here in Manila, we bought our tickets and headed for a four hour drive to San Antonio, Zambales. Bus number 14 was headed to Iba and the journey was not short of eventful. Two of our companions, Eds and Mutya's guest, Perry were not yet accustomed to Pete's snores. I wasn't able to tell Eds beforehand about it and he found it funny at first, and I heard Mutts at the back doing a sort of like lecture to Perry. Anyway they seem to get a hang of it later but not the other people at the front who constantly looks at us at the back just to see where the noise is coming from. Pete doesn't always snore as loud as that day, it was only an indication that he seems to be exhausted the day before, as sometimes in our travel, we would be surprised not to hear him snore.

San Antonio was a very strategic place, we got down by the plaza and decided to have some lunch first then buy all the goods we needed. We asked around and everything was walking distance. We first checked out a couple of restaurants, the first one didn't have rice meals and the other one was quite expensive. It seems the place is really known for divers and surfers as there were "Diver's Special" in the menu as well as the Tricycle drivers constantly asking that they can take us to Pundaquit. Well it was obvious from our attires, bags and gears that we were heading for the beach. We found a nice carinderia inside the market where the food was satisfying, and we didn't have to wander around long as much of what we wanted to buy were already there. On our way to the trykes we saw our other two guest from Grace's side, shopping around, JR and the Lebanese Hathim. They were able to follow us in San Antonio since they weren't able to make it to our Bus that morning.
