Pathways

Pathways

We

e docked on the island and a small stone structure, like a clubhouse greeted us. The island looks small but I feel like there is something more in it than what we are seeing. The boatman told us that he'll be back with the others and would be pulling in a bigger boat for the rest of the guys. They left and we started out exploration of the island.

I thought at first that the clubhouse is the only structure there but once you are inside there's this intriguing little pathways up that beckons you to follow its lead, like a yellow brick road. The view was already amazing, the trees were very moody holding a calm story in itself and the wind just drifts by you adding a certain ambience of welcoming. I'm a visitor of this island and it welcomes you to explore. Wow I never expected this to be so nice. For a photographer, this would be a delight.

House Ruins

House Ruins

I started shooting some photos a few steps away from the clubhouse, following the little pathways up the island. Going up you'll pass by this small Aztec like statue guarding the path and on the upper steps is a statue of the Virgin Mary, quite an interesting mix of figures there. At the top is a ruin of a house. The house has a very interesting architecture and design. There's this stone-etched mural in front of the house, it's either the guy is an artist and did this himself or he hired someone. The structure is an open house, with all the rooms in one side and the utilities on the other. Right now the foundation seems strong enough and the place could be rebuilt, but as it is now the ruined quality gives it a lot of story in itself. Old wooden windows opening to a view of the great lake, doors opening to trees, ornaments like pots still placed as decorations on the wall with cobwebs galore. Each of them tells pieces of a story. It's up to the visitor to piece them together.
