Aeta Traditional Dance

Aeta Traditional Dance

he Outreach started around 2pm at their self-made 'basketball' court. Marco was the MC, and started the introduction for the program, a National Anthem then a few words from Ichu, the entertainment rolled in. It was nice of the locals to have prepared a few numbers to present to us. First, the Aeta kids performed their traditional dance. It was quite fun and dusty. Then later 3 male adults did their traditional dance, it seems that their movement is attuned to the sound of the single guitar is making, at first they look like they were having an epileptic seizure but it turns out that it was the rhythm of the sound they were coordinating with. And lastly, there were some children who sang a tagalong song I heard for the first time, but their voices were really good and emotional that it could give you goose bumps.

Outreach at their court

The games begun immediately after the entertainment are done. Headed by Ichu, she carried the children quite well and it seems the kids really enjoyed all of it. The gift giving followed. It was quite a long line. The village has an approximate population of 200 and all of them are here, lined up. The first who were given gifts were the mother's with babies; Second was the kids who are studying and not studying; then the women and after, the men. In all this, Ichu again is in control of the situation, she was able to handle the crowd quite well she was able to make the kids and adults line up. Then later the kids were singing.

The people of Tarukan have a simple life, and they were happy with the simple things we gave them. It's their smiles which are appreciation enough for us.
