Morning at Campsite
have never felt this cold in my whole life. My hands were uncontrollably shaking and almost numb from the cold, damn... I should have bought a pair of gloves back in Manila. I tried to move as much as I can to warm my body while setting up the tent. But the wind was so damp, looking closer you'll see droplets going in different directions along with the wind, so my glasses would dampen for some time. It even came to a point when I even took out my poncho and my space blanket just to warm up, since I only have one level of clothes underneath my jacket. But I looked like an alien that just came down from a UFO with my glittering space blanket and shining headlamp. Everyone was in a hurry to cook for dinner; the hot sinigang doesn't even felt hot despite the steam coming in from its container. Forget about any form of socializing for the night as everyone wants to retire to the warm comfort of their tents.
I could really feel the cold bite through my skin as I lay down inside the comfort of my sleeping bag inside my tent. I was all alone on my tent as some of the provisions are placed inside my two man dome tent. Even with the thick foam of my sleeping bag, the cold could still be felt from the ground. I took out my sarong as an added blanket and also covered myself with a space blanket. It really felt like I'm a zuman with a thick layer of coverings. Good thing my tent was reliable enough to keep me dry inside. Fortunately, despite the cold, I managed to catch some sleep.
Grasslands
We woke up early around 4am. Everyone was hesitant to go out of their tents, but we have to prepare early so we could reach the peak before the sunrise. I was shaking again once I stepped out of the tent. I tried moving around to gather up some body heat. I don't drink coffee but since I'm craving for something warm I managed to take a few sips as company to my toasted garlic bread that I brought with me. And as soon as everyone was prepared, we started off our assault through the final level of the mountain, the Grasslands.
