Me at the Peak
he rolling hills of the Grassland looks amazing even in the dark. Navigating through it is a lot easier since a narrow trail was already established. Since Rod and I were in the middle of the pack but quite far away from the people behind, their headlamps seem to form a play of light far in the horizon. It took us less then an hour to reach the peak, but even before the scene of the break of light was enough to captivate. Even while walking, the play of colors that morning was a wonder to behold among the sea of clouds.
Someone shook my hands and congratulated me when I reached the peak. I could hear a cry of joy from someone behind me. It was an amazing feeling to be on top of this beautiful mountain and the sight above the clouds was truly a heaven on earth. Suddenly everything seems so small and you look at the world in a much larger perspective. You look at how vast the world is and the possibilities before you. The horizon of the clouds was endless, but as always the bright sun is always there despite being hidden from the ground below. It was truly wonderful and inspiring.
Gaoing back at camp
When everyone's emotion has settled back to normal, it was a shooting frenzy of souvenir photos. But despite having the sun directly before us, you could still feel the cold. My hands were even having a hard time pushing my camera controls because of the numbness. Then later, most of us just lay down on the grassy peak looking out the horizon and just enjoy the view. And by 9am, we were on our way back home.
It took days for the Pulag experience to wear-off. At times I find myself looking blankly out the window during office hours, imagining I was back again at that special place, looking at the sea of clouds. Mt. Pulag is more than a mountain to climb, but an enchanting experience that you will bring along with you forever.
