Ridge Camp

The

he night at the camp was cold but tolerable. From our site you would view from a distance night lights from both the island of Corregidor and the city of Manila. There weren't many stars though. NelC, an enthusiastic girl, who we also had the pleasure of climbing with in Batulao with MMS, was our co-food-group. Originally, Eds and I were going to eat our specially prepared Pita Bread Snacks for our meals. We prepared quite a number. But Nel C also brought these soups and vegetables which I can't resist to cook as well. I just love soups at a cold windy day like this. So our dinner is composed of chicken soup, buttered veggies and our Pita snacks. Cooking with the guys was really fun as it really feels like camping outdoors. Later since we had abundant supply of Pita bread, Eds and I decided to share our supply since Sir James as well as their food group forgot their food at their car they left at the jump-off point. Later we had dried mangoes, raisins as well as crunchy MMs for dessert.

MMS didn't have any social activities for that night, much like the former open climb they had in Batulao. A college schoolmate of mine told me that their open climbs are loosing its luster due to unprepared evening socials. They really enjoyed their socials on their first open climb in Gulugud Baboy and it has been their standard somehow, now its waning. To compensate though, Kuya Dang who seems to be a mouthful of jokes was charismatic enough to pull in some people for a night of jokes and laughter, ranging from the hand and word coordination of "Tami-Tami-Hoop" to the Color Theory shattering combination of colors. Even the American teacher Foe, whose teaching Rizal and History here in the Philippines for years, joined up for some laughs. But as soon as they got a bit drunk, it got tiresome that soon, some were just talking in groups already.

It was pass 9pm when we capped the night off.
