Bee Farm’s honeyed Halo-halo special
Whenever I go to an establishment, place or ate foods that I really like. I try to promote and share it here as much as possible. And there’s one such bed and breakfast place we stumbled upon in Panglao Island in Bohol. It is somewhat on the same league as Cavite’s Sonya’s Garden Bed and Breakfast but with an added sea side view. Enter the land of honey in Bohol’s Bee Farm.
Welcome to the Bohol Bee Farm
If you are coming from Tagbilaran, Bohol Bee Farm can be accessed via the main road heading to the Alona Beach in Panglao, you just have to watch out for their sign on the left side and enter a dirt road an a bit of a drive passing by a field of coconuts. Upon arriving, Vicky Cy, the nurse turned entrepreneur and owner of the farm warmly greeted us and assigned one of her staff to take us around the place. At first I thought it’s just one of those Sonya’s Garden inspired place, or so I thought
Follow the garden path
Our guide showed us to a path leading to a well manicured garden. Indeed the furnishing along the garden is very artistic. But what surprised me most is the view of the sea! It seems the place is situated over a cliff.
Dining area
At the dining area the tables are set with colorful place mats stitched with nice details like flowers and leaves. There are hammocks around the area if you just want to laze around. Sala sets to just lounge while reading some books or magazines or even play a game of sungka. The place would really beckon you to just relax.

There are also accommodation in the area. Very nice houses which we learned is around 5000 pesos a night. But there are also cheaper ones that go as low as 3000 pesos. I think the price is just right for this private place. If you are looking for a nice alternative to a beach, this is a good place since you also have access to the sea and more to snorkel since there are no beach.
Open air massage area
Just a little pass the dining area is the massage area facing the sea. Massage cost around 400 pesos an hour which I think is cheap. If only we had more time I would have tried their massage. Beds look very comfortable.
Relax with sea view at the cliff deck area
And just near the massage area are stairs leading down to a cliff side deck where you have a better view of the sea and access tot he ocean. There are tables, benches and comfortable inclined bed there. I heard the view of sunset there is fantastic.
Honeyed Putomaya and hot tsokolate
Of course we wouldn’t leave without sampling the food. I would have wanted to try their main dishes but we just had breakfast before we went here so I just ordered a Honeyed Halo-halo Special which cost Php 140 and a combo of Putomaya and tsokolate for Php 80. Their Halo-halo is one of the best I’ve tasted halo-halo. Their topped ice cream is home made and tasty and not too sweet. But I guess as a catalyst, the sahog have some honey which made the halo-halo sweeter. They did not use the usual ingredients of beans, kaong but all of it are bits of fruits from apple to mango and watermelon. So it’s more like a fruit salad to me but it taste good. Their putomaya is a kakanin with strips of mango on top. But what taste different from the other kakanin or biko I have tasted it that it has some added taste of ginger to it. Their Tsokolate isn’t the best I’ve tasted. The cocoa from Cafe Leona in Vigan is much better.
From their store I also bought some honey products from them, like Honeyed Ginger Tea, Honey Spread, honeyed peanut sticks and cookies. All of them taste great.
If ever I go back to Bohol, I’ll go back to this place again and sample their other dishes. I know this post seems like a promotion but I’m not related to them or have been paid to post this (but it would sure be nice if they would. Hehe), it’s just that I like this place. i think i saw this farm featured in some magazines. It must be ceb pacs flight mag.
But I like the pitures here better.
It’s a must visit next time I’ll be in Bohol.

i lvoe their spareribs and pesto and mango spreads.. and the cabcab (cassava chips, i think). good thing they have free taste!

Sungka was one of my fave local games to release boredom when I was a kid….I really missed this kind of games in the province.

The place looked amazing and I love the tranquility that surrounded the whole area. Made it more special, to relax and be away from the city for a while.

halo halo has never been served that pretty before. it looks really sinfully yummy. isnt it sad that you have to go all the way to bohol to visit soomething like this? dont they have this in luzon?

I would love to go back to this place. We went there the last time we went to Bohol, but wasn’t able to explore the place.
I agree, their hot chocolate with honey is a bit weird.

ganda naman neto Ferdz. yung housemeyt ko may dalang Cebu Pacific magazine noong isang araw at pinabasa niya sa akin ang isang artikulo tungkol sa Bee Farm na ito sa Panglao. Napakanda. Tama ang mga komento, higit na mas maganda ng mga kuha mo. YUng last shot mo, astig. Bagay ang slight tilt para sa kaunting espasyo at dimensyon na matanaw ko ang laman ng tasa na may tsokolate. Hindi man ako mahilig sa ganyang inuman, nakakatakam pa rin ang itsura. Gusto ko rin ang sapat at malabong espasyo sa likod, dahilan para magpokus ang mata sa pagkain. anway, pang advertisement na talaga ang mga shots mo wala na akong masabi. galing.

Parang commercial nga eto. hehe. i’ve never been to bohol, but this bee farm might be a nice place to visit if i ever go. So they keep the bees in the back? You didn’t take a picture with the bees?

My nephew just came back from this island, Ferdz. He also told me why those establishments were mostly named Alona; supposedly in honor of the actress Alona Alegre.

naalala ko bumili kami ng flower salad. sa sobrang ganda, ayaw namin kainin. ayun, hanggang sa nalanta na lang sya at inedible na. =(
