Dazzling. It’s really an experience watching the Ayala Triangle Symphony of Lights. I brought some of my relatives there and I was amused seeing the awe-filled look on their faces. This is another thing I like about Christmas, a lot of free entertainment for everyone like this light and music show and it’s becoming a new tradition in the likes of the COD Christmas display decades ago. And technology indeed has caught up in capturing the light spectacle. While I enjoyed shooting the lights, I also enjoyed looking at the people watching them.

iPods, iPhones, iPads, Galaxy Tabs, DSLRs are now a common place among the masses. I saw a lot trying to capture the lightshow with cameras carefully set on tripods. Others starts shooting once the show has began and would prefer their own group or portrait shots no matter what camera they use handheld, DSLR, compact or mobile phone cameras. But it still amuses me to see the large screens of iPads used as camera. There was even one girl capturing a video with the iPad on one hand and a still image with a DSLR on another hand.

While I delight at the kids jumping and running around the park, it’s also great to watch adults become kids again when filled with amazement upon seeing the lightshow. I think this is also the spirit of this holiday season, finding the fun and kid side in all of us and sharing the enjoyment with the surrounding people.

When I went back to the Ayala Triangle with my relatives, I just decided to watch the show and put my photography in the back. I realized I missed a lot of the sequences when I was focused on shooting. It was a really magical show that I’m sure if I was a kid, I’ll remember for a long time.

The Ayala Triangle Symphony of Lights runs every hour from 6pm to 9pm in the evening until the end of December. In the meantime, let me entice you with some photos if you haven’t been there. More photos at my SmugMug Gallery

Honestly, I wish I would be in a place where Christmas is celebrated stripped off the commercialism and senseless countdowns and save some people some stress during this season. I asked a cousin of mine who has been around the world what he thinks about Christmas. I remember him telling me one of the best places he spent Christmas was in Papua New Guinea. People there don't have much. They don't have to worry about buying gifts to people and their only concern is coming together as a family, celebrating with what they have. Isn't that ideal?

Anyways not to sound all grumpy this season, I love Christmas as it brings out the best in everyone and every place is bright and jolly minus the annoying new versions of Christmas songs. I also like receiving gifts as much as I can give, just not the stress that comes along with it so I try to concentrate on the amazing things around us. Like how most places are decorated so lovely making those tons of electric bills to good use for our eye-candy. Honestly, I like looking at them.

One such place that brings delight in this urban jungle is the Ayala Triangle Garden’s Symphony of Parol. The show is free for everyone to enjoy during the Holiday Seasons. I enjoyed looking at the people, families and chidren just having a fun time there, eating out or kids jumping along with the electrified music. It reminds me of my childhood days when our whole family would troop in front of the COD building facade to enjoy the Christmas show there. It has become a tradition, and for kids at this day and age, these happy memories will be deeply rooted with them until they grow old as well.

So do you have these strong child hood memories of places and events during this season that still lives on till this day? Moments that you come back to again and felt happy? I think these moments, these memories are the best gifts one could give this Christmas. So with this, I would like to greet everyone a Merry Christmas and more happy memories for the future.
