Zamboanga: Satti in the city and more

Perk up your mornings with a semi-spicy Satti meal

Pardon the title pun there. Just have to use it on this entry, hehe. Being close to our neighboring country in Sabah, Malaysia, you could find certain similarities in terms of design, culture and especially food in Zamboanga City. One such similar dish I found here is their famous Satti which is very similar to the Malaysian Satay.

Manila: Nuvo Y5k

Hanging out at the Bar

Nuvo, bar and restaurant
is one of the classiest night life places in town located in Greenbelt 2, Makati. On my way there I was expecting to do more food and establishment shoots. But when I arrived there about 2 hours before midnight, I never expected to walk into one of the high society’s anticipated party event as Nuvo celebrates its 5th anniversary last July 25 2007. The party dubbed as Nuvo Y5k sought to bring an atmosphere of nostalgia as it plays some feel good and vibe music of the nineties.

Manila: Fine dine at Pepato

Tomato Pasta

One of my favorite photography subject is food. That’s why I really enjoy it whenever I get to cover establishments like restaurants. Aside from having to take photos of their dishes, we get taste or even eat them after most of the time. The same goes here when we covered one of Greenbelt 2’s row of restaurants named Pepato.

The Bohol Bee Farm

Bee Farm’s honeyed Halo-halo special

Whenever I go to an establishment, place or ate foods that I really like. I try to promote and share it here as much as possible. And there’s one such bed and breakfast place we stumbled upon in Panglao Island in Bohol. It is somewhat on the same league as Cavite’s Sonya’s Garden Bed and Breakfast but with an added sea side view. Enter the land of honey in Bohol’s Bee Farm.

Cambodia: Khmer Eats

Cambodian Chicken Dish

Updated: Thank you Toe for the help on naming the dishes :D

Let me start first that by saying that I’m no food critic nor a gourmet expert and my cooking skills rank below 5 out 10. But one thing I know is that I do appreciate good food and binge into what I really enjoy. And in any adventure, I always try to be as adventurous with the local dish as well. Cambodia is no exception of course, a taste of Khmer Cuisine is a welcome experience.

Enter Sonya’s Garden

Sonya's Secret Garden

I know Valentines just around so some of you may be looking for a nice fine dining restaurant. If you would ask me Antonio’s Restaurant takes the cake for ultimate dining pleasure, but you have to book at the place in advance. But also nearby is another worthy destination which inspired Antonio’s Resto as well. It’s Sonya’s Bed and Breakfast.

Eat up in Binondo

Binondo Church

Binondo is a really amusing place in this part of Manila. I enjoy the smell, the structures and especially the food. The old 16th century Binondo Church still retains its old stone walls. The interiors looks more grand than most churches and the altar seems similar to those in European design. Did you know the first Philippine saint, Lorenzo Ruiz, started here as an altar boy? I certainly didn’t. Hmmm… this would be a very interesting church to take picture of for Simbang Gabi.
