Island-hopping Wonders of Ticao Island

Ticao island in Masbate

The knife-edged-shape Ticao island is another fascinating destination for me. I’ve read articles and seen photos of this island, so I kinda know what to expect – stunning seascapes, rock formations, age-old settlements, and towering waterfalls pouring directly into the sea. And I finally got to see this for myself. After a day of interacting with whale sharks in Donsol, we rode a large outrigger boat to Ticao island, one of the three major islands of Masbate. It’s a 2-3 hours rocky boat ride but no rough waters can keep my excitement.

Rizal | Masungi Georeserve: A Rock Garden Playground for Nature Lovers

5:25 AM. Our car was parked in front of the Masungi Georeserve gate waiting for them to open. The wind howled and sent chills down to our bones making us seek warmth inside the car. I have long been interested on visiting the Masungi Georeserve in Baras, Rizal but booking a tour was a challenge as slots are often filled. DIY or walk-ins are also not allowed as booking should be done in groups of 6–10. Fortunately, our friend Lea, whom I met in Batanes Asus event called for joiners to complete a group of her friends with her father. We chose the earliest schedule to somehow catch a good light on the trail.

El Nido | The Wakat Wakat Mangroves Boardwalk at Bubulungan

I’ve been long interested with the mangroves of El Nido. Yes, the place is most known mainly for it’s dramatic karst islands, blue lagoons and scenic beaches. But El Nido also has a rich mangrove eco-system. I was originally looking for a way to visit the Aberawan Mangroves but it’s not a popular tour and could cost me a lot. I was told of the Wakat Wakat Mangroves of Bubulungan, just at the border of El Nido town proper. Decided to spend an afternoon to look for this place.

Nikon Shot | Sapang Dalaga Waterfalls

This week’s Nikon Shot is from a recent trip to Misamis Occidental. I really have no idea what to find here and kept an open mind. After our talk in La Salle University for the 9th Culinary Congress, the provincial tourism accompanied us for a tour around the towns. One surprising find was the municipality of Sapang Dalaga. It’s a 2-hour drive from Ozamiz City but what awaited us was more natural wonders from scenic hills, inviting islands and this lovely waterfall they call Sapang Dalaga Waterfalls. The place is slightly developed but done in a good way without disrupting the natural attraction.

Travel Mindanao | CEDAR Waterfalls Trek in Impasug-ong

Another day of adventure awaits the Travel Mindanao team in Bukidnon. It was time to leave Valencia and we’re then headed north to Impasug-ong. The team regrouped again at the town market in Malaybalay with Lai of PinayTravelista rejoining us after she left us at Lake Sebu. And this time to guide us is another Bukidnon local travel blogger and runner Earl of SuroyPilipinas. He had already arranged our transportation going to CEDAR in Impalutao, Impasug-ong. I don’t know what to expect of the place except for some nature hikes and a few waterfalls.
