Bohol: Mongo-ol Bike Park and Baclayon Kayaking

I watch in amazement as Roel, a known local biker here in Bohol, gains momentum and speed as his bike descends on the rough slope leading to a short ramp which is the start of the biker’s trail. For a moment he and his bike were suspended in the air and instantly he dashes on a curve on to the rough mountain bike trail of Mongo-ol, Baclayon, Bohol. I know how to bike, but Roel, along with his fellow bikers here really know how to ride their mountain bikes easily on this mountain trail like riding on a pavement. They make it look so easy.

Mongo-ol Bike Park is the brainchild of friends Roel and Adrian. Recently opened last March, it is still undergoing improvements on the tracks. There’s a growing mountain bike community in Bohol and they both hope this would entice more people to get into the Mountain Biking Sport.

There’s not much to say about the place except that it’s another ground for adventure sports in Bohol. Roel, who’s been biking for two years and have already biked around Bohol, said that there are more challenging trails in Bohol.

Another activity Baclayon is promoting is kayaking around the baluarte area. I thought it would be good additional activity especially with the nearby mangroves. I’d suggest kayaking in the morning when it’s high tide. Other activities we can expect soon is windsurfing. I’m sure when I come back here in a year or so, Baclayon would be developed as another hub for adventure sports in Bohol.
