Mushroom truffle cream spread on whole wheat me lba chips
More food thingy again. Maybe I should start converting this site into a food blog. Hahaha. Anyhoo, here’s a feature on The Blue Kitchen. A specialized food shop of home made goodies with no preservatives. They got a lot of native goodies, pastries and some international foods as well.
One of my favorite photography subject is food. That’s why I really enjoy it whenever I get to cover establishments like restaurants. Aside from having to take photos of their dishes, we get taste or even eat them after most of the time. The same goes here when we covered one of Greenbelt 2’s row of restaurants named Pepato.
Whenever I go to an establishment, place or ate foods that I really like. I try to promote and share it here as much as possible. And there’s one such bed and breakfast place we stumbled upon in Panglao Island in Bohol. It is somewhat on the same league as Cavite’s Sonya’s Garden Bed and Breakfast but with an added sea side view. Enter the land of honey in Bohol’s Bee Farm.
Updated:Thank you Toe for the help on naming the dishes 😀
Let me start first that by saying that I’m no food critic nor a gourmet expert and my cooking skills rank below 5 out 10. But one thing I know is that I do appreciate good food and binge into what I really enjoy. And in any adventure, I always try to be as adventurous with the local dish as well. Cambodia is no exception of course, a taste of Khmer Cuisine is a welcome experience.
But apologies if I forgot the names of some of the dishes. Any help on identifying them would be welcome (help Toe! hehe). Like the dish above is a Khmer chicken dish we ate for lunch at a restaurant near Srah Srang worth USD$ 3. It has that semi mint lemon grass taste and the sauce is a bit on a sweet and sour side.
I know Valentines just around so some of you may be looking for a nice fine dining restaurant. If you would ask me Antonio’s Restaurant takes the cake for ultimate dining pleasure, but you have to book at the place in advance. But also nearby is another worthy destination which inspired Antonio’s Resto as well. It’s Sonya’s Bed and Breakfast.
Binondo is a really amusing place in this part of Manila. I enjoy the smell, the structures and especially the food. The old 16th century Binondo Church still retains its old stone walls. The interiors looks more grand than most churches and the altar seems similar to those in European design. Did you know the first Philippine saint, Lorenzo Ruiz, started here as an altar boy? I certainly didn’t. Hmmm… this would be a very interesting church to take picture of for Simbang Gabi.
I woke up so early today for some strange unknown reason. I looked into my phone clock and saw that it was 4:44 am which weirded me out and noticed there was no signal around with the “Emergency Calls Only” on the network status. Tossing and turning around to get some shut eye but the zzzz’s has already flown by the window and all I see is the deep blue sky at dawn penetrating this mind boggling early morning wake up call.
I decided to prepare my usual breakfast. First off I heated off a cup of water for my Quaker Oats meal. Yeah, a lot of people would ask how I can keep on eating such a bland tasting meal. Well the trick is to add variety of flavor in it. For the Quaker Oats I usually buy the Blue one where you can cook it quick not the red one which you just add hot water. The quick cooking variety has thicker and tastier oats and still has more nutrients than the refined instant oats. Adding to it are 2 tablespoons of Whole Ground Flaxseed to add a nutty flavor and supercharge it with nutrients. And to add more flavors I add either skim non-fat milk or choco, in this case it’s Milo Fuze. As a sweetener, since I don’t use sugar, I add a handful of raisins for a fruity flavor. Mix them all up and enjoy.
Looking around the fridge I found some leftover spaghetti sauce from the other day. I pulled out 2 whole wheat buns, cut them in half, spread the sauce all over them and grated some cheese and nuked them inside the oven toaster.
While toasting there’s the matter of the eggs. Never a day I miss one of these protein essential. Usually it’s sunny side up, so if I don’t get to finish all, I’ll just bring them on work later on adding a slice of Canadian Back Bacon and cheese for snack.
Lastly some fruits. Only got a banana in the fridge though, so I’ll go with that.
Well that completes it and I’ll be full for a few hours hehehe.
I just hope I don’t get to wake up that early again.
