Marinduque: Morning splendor at Gaspar Island

We woke up at about 3:30 am to prepare for our trip to Gaspar Island. It’s great to have fellow photographers like Oggie and Allan on a trip since they understand the importance of capturing the best light in the scenery. Most locals would have wondered why we would want to sail to the island at 4 am in the morning not understanding the photographer’s view of things. Maybe one reason why our boatman missed our target departure of 4 am. Or he just probably overslept a bit. Still, we managed to arrive before the sun rises on Gaspar Island, …

Marinduque: Overcast in Torrijos

Torrijos Church

Shot with red eyes from so little sleep while in transit to Marindque, we were dead sleepy when the bus rolled off from the Cawit Port and we overslept at our drop-off point in Boac. Fairly waking at a road sign saying Boac is 7km behind us now we realized our bus is heading down south already. It was actually fortunate that it will pass by our destination in Gasan. A lady who was going home back there after 5 years was noting the town they were passing through with her companion. We chatted with her a bit and told …

Rediscovering Mindoro

Shooting the sunset at Boquete Island (SE K800i)

It’s been years since I last stepped foot in the island of Mindoro. I remember the rough roads going to Sablayan just to visit the remote islands of Pandan and Apo Reef in Occidental Mindoro. The impressive reefs and underwater life of La Laguna beach in Oriental Mindoro. I found myself on a photo assignment recently back in Mindoro and discovered that there is more to Puerto Galera than its White Beach (which I still haven’t been to).

Coron: Banol Beach Beauty

Transparency in blue. Banol Beach Coron

I’m tempted not to write anything here but let the pictures speak for themselves. One thing is for sure. Coron has beautiful beaches. Aside form the towering lime stones and a number of islands its easy to just lay around on one corner of the islands with fine white sand, crystal blue waters and the sun. On our island hopping trip, we told our boatman to go opposite where the crowd is. At that time, we heard there were several groups touring in Coron. So our first stop was the Skeleton Wreck Site and Banol Beach.

Climbing Mount Daguldol with Columbia Sportswear

Descending the Summit of Mt Daguldol

At the camp, we get to pitch our tents. The Columbia Dome tent is actually very nice. It has 2 doors, one on each side and very spacious iteriors with a hanging compartment at the ceiling and can room 3 medium sized persons. Early morning, it actually rained more but we were still dry inside the tents. At camp we get to eat some pasta, toasted breads and baguettes prepared by the Columbia folks. We get to share some stories as well with the other bloggers. The next day, we had some clearing and we get to do a summit. This is actually the 3rd time I visited this mountain and it’s the first time I did a summit. Maybe because I knew the summit here wasn’t that spectacular as the other Batangas mountains.
