The province of Quirino in Cagayan Valley, named after the former and sixth president of the Philippines Elpidio Quirino has often been overlooked and misplaced as a destination. Maybe because they are in a land-locked area between three provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Aurora and no direct access on the main national roads or flights. This makes Quirino quite interesting alternative destination. “What’s here? What can we see and do?” Are just about some curious queries unraveled on our recent visit. But before any exploration, we made our way to Cabarroguis, the province’s town capital.
Oh the smell of coffee and the feel of a warm cup in my hands in the cool morning at Lorega Bukidnon was one of those simple pleasures I enjoyed on a trip like this. Even with a cheap 3-in-1 instant coffee, the view from the porch of DDD Habitat Bukidnon was soothing to the senses. Just the right chill after a morning rain. Some of the Travel Mindanao friends and I decided to do a quick walk in Lorega in the early morning before we leave for Valencia Bukidnon after lunch.
The last day of any trip is a bittersweet moment. For one, I was glad I have an eventful trip in Central Java, but on the other, it felt it wasn’t enough. Just to squeeze in some quality hours on my last day in Yogyakarta, I decided to visit the Yogyakarta Kraton, the palace of the Sultan, which is just a walking distance from Hotel Winotosastro, where I was staying. It was a pretty normal day with the temperature just right for a comfortable walk. I just followed the road from my map and found a walled complex where houses, shops and the kraton (palace) is found.
I let the wind lull me to sleep inside room 205 of Motherland Inn II. I arrived early morning in Yangonfrom Mandalay, took a shared taxi to town, had the free buffet breakfast at the inn and headed to my room at the upper floor. Finding the wide open view at my window, I opened the glass windows and was delighted to feel the gust of wind coming in. I turned of the aircon and left the window open except for the screen and let myself drift to dreamland.
