The UNESCO World Heritage site, Calle Crisologo, Vigan

I’ve been up north several times already but it’s not often I get to tag the family along. The Ilocos Region is probably one of the easiest place to travel by road and add to that, it has a number of sights from beautiful old churches, heritage houses, delicious food, mega structures and wonderful beaches. Even from the several times I’ve visited the place there’s always something new to try and discover. This trip was last September 14-16, 2010. It’s a bit cramped and covers the ‘usual’ sights first timers in the region and more manageable sights.

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Budget:
Since this is a family trip, I made sure we’re booked on a place that’s moderately priced and comfortable. We Spent P10,380 for 2 nights for rooms good for 7 pax at Grandpa’s Inn.

We also hired a comfortable van with driver at a very reasonable price going to Vigan and back. And we were fortunate my sisters had friends in Laoag who has a ride and toured us up the Ilocos Norte region.

Highlights:
The highlights for me on this trip was a visit to Bacarra Church in Ilocos Norte which I wasn’t able to visit before. And of course finally completing the 4 baroque Churches un UNESCO on my visit to Sta Maria Church. There’s a lot more to discover in Ilocos region, make sure to check out the Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte categories.
